Our environment
Pozo Alcon is a municipality in the district of Alto Guadalquivir located in the extreme southeast, against the border of Granada’s province. The northern half part of this municipality is included in the Natural Park of Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas, modifying its geomorphology toward the south and southeast to the river Guadiana Menor and Guadalentin. Here the landscape changes abruptly, Pozo Alcon’s spacious is a semi-desert area, very eroded, of sprat and thyme. Agriculture is the main activity, emphasizing the cultivation of olive trees, herbaceous plants and almonds. Livestock is important and dominated by sheep and poultry. The poor communications of Pozo Alcon with the province of Jaén helps to a more related partnership to Baza (Granada) than other towns in the province. Tourism, on the other hand, is currently being configured as a future activity in the neighborhood of the called "Sierra del Pozo".
